Researchers have discovered that low doses of psilocybin, the psychedelic compound in magic mushrooms, speed the extinction of the conditioned fear response in mice. The results could pave the way for psilocybin to be explored as a potential treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder and other related conditions in humans.

I have always been terrified of spiders. I went camping and ate shrooms once, and noticed that spiders weren't really as scary while I was tripping. The next few times I tripped in the woods, I deliberately exposed myself to more spiders, and did some contemplation about them and why I was scared of them. I'm not gonna say my phobia is CURED, but since then I have been much less scared of them. I don't want one on me, but I can see one in front of me and not freak out like I used to. I guess take that for what it's worth. I feel that it really helped though.
