I almost bought the ASUS 1201N, if I hadn't tried it in a shop, I would of bought it blindly and been totally disappointed with it I have a Dell, and I love it. I was spending a lot of time sitting in my car between classes and didn't have room for a full-size laptop. Never had a problem with it, the price was right, and the screen is plenty big enough for what I use it for. |

Not sure which one you have/had, but I can see the whole girl |

you're not a fan of porn then? I like to see the whole girl at once. ![]() it's an HP Mini, screen resolution of 1024 x 600. So, with the Explorer navigation bar at the top, then the tab bar, plus the status bar at the bottom, there probably about 450 pixels of vertical screen space left. My phone has more. ![]() |

Can't speak for everybody, but I'm not a fan of porn that has women too big to fit on the screen! ![]() Yeah, I could turn the status bar off I suppose and save a whopping 20 pixels... |

I was considering one for my daughter, are they really that bad? I have a good quad core Core7 laptop. A nice 17 inch beast that runs what I want effortlessly. I also have a 10 inch netbook, an 8gb ssd version that runs Ubuntu linux. I use it pimrarily for browsing, messaging, FB, forums - I don't run apps on it. If 'internety' stuff or even word processing type of stuff is all your daughter would be doing - then the netbook is sufficient. Gaming is not going to happen with a netbook - not even 'flash' games on sites like FB etc. Unless it's a higher end netbook then it's not worth it. Even if it was a higher end - may as well get a cheaper laptop for the same price. Internet type use, word processing in a lightweight long lasting battery (shop around, it varies) portable form are the appeals of a netbook. For everything else - or all that... and your daughter needs more - a small laptop. |

Separating the wheat from the chaff in this thread (and there's a lot of chaff) - I would say it depends on what she would use it for. ![]() My brother just picked up a laptop for his son.. Canadian BestBuy or WalMart for $300.00.. HP brand.. Not a Notebook but an actual Laptop 15" monitor.. But remember you usually get what you pay for.. ![]() |

girls like them because they're small and cute and fit in their purse and come in pink and they look like a compact and and... Now that that ugly business is finished... I looked around a lot before I bought my laptop. The netbooks that I looked at were anywhere from $50 - $100 less than the laptop I ended up buying. Not worth it to me. Plus I hated that they were SO small. I knew they were compact...but I felt like I was playing on a kid's toy computer or something. |

First off, I considered buying a netbook and I can most definitely assure you that it was NOT b/c it was small and cute and fit in my purse and comes in pink. I mean, I already choose my cookware and my vaccuum cleaners based on how pretty they are...can't do it w/ a computer, too!!! *rolls eyes* And funny enough, it's mostly MEN who posted in this thread about the netbooks, not women. Hmm. ![]() |
