I'll never understand why people would ever choose to defend or support anything to do with Microsoft. It's a matter of record that it was started out as a money-making venture first, a computer company second. That's why their products are totally inferior. That said, Windows 7 is a huge improvement over Vista, and I do like it's speed - in some areas I would say it's faster than my Mac when running on a comparable processor - opening programs like Photoshop, for example.

But you should see Call of Duty on my mac. I'm not much of a gamer, but on a 27" screen its just delightful.

I've used PCs, well, been forced to use them, over the years at college, uni and at a few places of work. They are inferior in many ways, better in a couple.

Yeah they work, but they do crash more, there's no escaping that. Bizarre hardware conflicts aren't that rare either, especially on the non-branded machines you get cheap in local PC stores. Plus there's no end to Windows' vulnerabilities...

If you were to buy my iMac brand new, it'd set you back 1400€. You wouldn't be able to get a comparable PC for that money, not even if you built the bugger yourself.

The absolute worst computer related experiences I've ever had has been on Windows XP and before. I currently own a PC running XP. However since upgrading to Vista I've not had any real issues with it, but I run it on my Mac so that's tough to distinguish whom to praise. However, let me emphasis, I've never had any OS related problems on my Macs which I've been operating since 1993 (Apple IIe before that) and it gets accolades for not having a registry. Makes no diff to me if Steve Jobs is in your fan club or not, the hardware is top notch, and OS is unbeatable.

Personally I kinda liked XP (Service Pack 2), Vista caused me real problems a few years ago. I was working for a start-up that ordered 7 Vista PCs from a local supplier. They arrived and a couple of guys set them up. Within about a week we had the whole lot running on XP because Vista was nigh-on unusable. I don't think it's necessarily the fault of Vista, probably that combined with the hardware the supplier had put together.

Working as a mac technician is an easy job compared to the poor sods who have to troubleshoot Windows. Most issues we had to deal with were pretty straightforward and solved easily. Hardware issues can be a pain though, especially on Mac laptops - until the models that came out this year, changing a HD could sometimes take up to an hour! Especially on those cute 12" Powerbooks, the manual to take the buggers apart was 14 pages and you had to pretty much strip the machine entirely to get at the HD. The nice design and build of the cases and the ventilation system comes at a price...

As a Mac user at home, never had any problems either to be honest, I've been using them since my first LC475 back in the early nineties

As for Steve Jobs, there's no denying the guy is an egotistical jerk, my ex-boss had done some work with him in the past and confirmed that. But it's worth pointing out that without Job's vision, the computer and home entertainment world would be pretty crap. Mind you, it's not like he hasn't made some blunders... G4 Cube, anyone?

Years ago I read that at MS, for their Mac software dept, they had 1 tech per 100 Macs. In contrast for their Windows machines they had 1 tech per 25 machines. No surprise there.

You can run the praise of MAC all you want but they will soon barely run any software other then "Apple Approved" due to them snubbing Intel. They may soon find their only processor of choice being their own Clone that may not run or could well glitch other programs.

I can best build you a computer for about 500-700€ that can best yours and will run Windows and Linux with ease. Show me a MAC that can dual boot another operating system or even let you run other OS systems.. Better yet, show me one that can be upgraded for a new CPU without having to give up a first born ?

If you are a die hard Apple fan best you hold on to what you got cause it got as good as it gets..

i don't get why people say that ubuntu isnt good for gaming, there are a lot of good games on it, including emulators for the n64, snes, nes, and gameboy, and there is wine, which you can use to play some windows games

I picked Windows Only because it's the business environment I must use on my laptop but on my PC I use trays and run Windows OR Linux at my discretion..

I have Windows XP on one and Windows 7 on another. Be prepared for a huge change and even those I talked to who run Vista say Windows 7 is much different then Windows 7 but so much more stable..

I actually like Windows 7 but it has taken some getting used to..
