as long as you like ....or if your battery is hooked up then as long as your battery will allow you to be. If you are worried about cooling you can buy cooling stations for them. BUT for the most part so long as your laptop is not on your lap or on a bed and is on a hard surface like a desk, then you really don't have to worry about it.

I think that when u turn off a laptop or a computer it decreases its life. I turn off my computer and laptop once per one or two months.

If you mean with the charger plugged in then untill it is charged. NEVER leave the chargver plugged in 24/7 as this will kill the battery, laptop batteries are NiMH batteries and will wear out if constantly have voltage applied to them, always let the battery die down fully before recharging

This is not correct.

It is way to hard on any computer to turn it off only once per month or two.

thank you all for your participation. your posts helped me a lot, and since my laptop is brand new and has all the latest cooling, graphics and cpu systems i think it should be fine if i leave it open for more than 15 hours a day. Also i'm getting a new PC tomorow and i'll post a thread about the specs, i wanna hear some opinions there too.

I usually put mine in standby if I'm going to be leaving it alone for a few hours or going to bed. But I've left it on for a couple days at a time before and it's been fine.

I didn't want to read everyones answers so here is mine

You can leave a laptop on for a week straight just know that most parts for any computer have a life span and they will eventually die... The longer you leave it on the more of that life span you are sucking up... If you only leave it on for an hour or 2 at a time it will last a lot longer
