This computer is only couple of years old, however it only has 1 show of RAM. My concerns are, what's the distinction between those two pieces of RAM that I've within the red box? And what might happen easily set a lot more than the "maximum amount recommended from the manufacturer?" Just how much will this machine be helped by adding 1 more gig?

Get second one, the PC6400. Your computer can take either, but the PC6400 can run at 800Mhz, not 667, and is the same price.
