I already have an Iomega HDD 465GB hard-drive, but the damn thing likes to blink off n' on sometimes - and it's pissin' me off. What kind of computer do you have? Are you handy opening it up? I would recommind that you build your own drive. You can buy an eSata enclosure online at Newegg and then buy a good 1TB drive to put in the thing. eSata connections are lots faster then USB as they run at the native speed of the Drive and Bus line. You will have to open your computer and connect a plug inside the computer to plate on the back. But that is not hard at all. |

Blink on an off. Are you talking about the LED or is your system dropping connection on the drive? If it's dropping connection are you certain that it's the drive? Build my own, eh? Never done anything like that before, but would be willing to try. |

Maybe not. Something is wrong and it might be either the drive or the computer. A 3 year old Dell is new enough to have both USB 2.0 and internal SATA ports. Do you have access to a second PC. One that you can plug up your drive and see if the problem follows it. |

I doubt it. It sounds like a hardware problem not a software one. I suspect the computer is the problem. Hence my request/question about plugging this device into another computer. If the problem follows the device then it is the faulty unit. If not then the computer is at fault and THEN we can address whether it is a software or hardware issue in the computer.
