Default The Roger, Rafa, Novak & Murray Are All Washed Up Thread.
Dear Rog-Loss Gloaters:

Enjoy your day. You've earned it.

Until tomorrow.

As there must be tomorrow, and ya gotta wake up and realize that.....If you are a true fan of any of The Annointed Top 4 (or Andy 2)- since Wimbledon time- unless you haven't been paying attention- you have NOTHING to feel good about. 'Cause- while ya watch Roger FINALLY crumbling- your boys are in no position to take advantage.

For better or worse, please save yourself any stress and just book your tickets early......and......Welcome to the Del Potro Tour*, kids.

As for me, it has been a long time since I've looked so LITTLE forward to the upcoming start to a tennis year. Gotta nasty feelin' that this tennis fan's gonna have to go back into tennis-fan hibernation for a long, LONG time (As a reference point, please See: The Pete & Steffi Years.)

*With a concomitant Belgian WTA Tour. With Justine winning Wimbledon at the very latest in 2012, sweeping Roland Garros and US Open titles in the meantime.

*Which means you'll be findin' nelslus in the Random, Random thread for about the next 15 years.......

Oh God help us all! Nelslus in random, random for the next 15 years? You'll go crazy and we'll all be reading allllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll about it. Belslus will probably be popping up more often too...

It'll never happen nelslus! And Justine winning Wimbledon, French Open and the USO??

You make me laugh! It won't happen.

In his Hour of Need, can't you at least allow nelslus a MOMENT'S worth of sensual pleasure, thinkin' about what drop'll go through when Rafa loses his 2010 Roland Garros match to Cilic?!?!?!

DAMN you. DAMN you, you harlot.

P.S. I'm now Team Soderling.

I'd have agreed, Foxy. But, knowing that Drop is on Team Del Potro has made Del Potro an Enemy of Nelslus forever. (P.S. Novak and/or Murray taking over is just too vile a thought for nelslus to contemplate.)

here is what Roger had to say about Del Potro after his loss:

Q. You said you know Del Potro could raise his game. To which level? Are you surprised how good he could play? Do you think he could be better, something more?
ROGER FEDERER: Well, I mean, time will tell. It's not disrespectful at all, but I think he's done incredibly well the last six months, let's say 18 months. I think he's really, really improved a lot. I didn't think he was going to become that good, to be quite honest. I played him a few times before, that's why I have a very good record against him still, because back then, he was playing very strangely, I thought. With his size, he was playing more like a guy who is like a little guy. Today he's finally using his size to his advantage. It's going to be interesting to see how he progressing. I was already wrong once. So I don't know where it's going to take him. Seems like the sky's the limit for him at the moment. He seems very consistent, very tough mentally, too. Those are definitely good attributes to have for the future.

in that case, I reserve the right to take back all nice things I have ever thought, said or posted about other players, become bitter and sarcastic and join you in the random, random-thread .
Until then, I gotta say that I really like Del Potro. I like how he was able to turn his career around. When I saw him play at my very first live tennis tournament, RG 2007, I knew he was said to be the next best thing and he handled himself well against Nadal. But shortly afterwards, it seems like everyone was writing him off, saying he failed to live up to his talent -even though he was still so young!- and making fun of his retirements, at least until this one horrible scene when he was crying on court because of his back pain.
So yeah, I am happy to see him succeed.

You love this king of thing. don't you nelsisus. Anyway, I think it is changing time. Djokovic and Murray can't get on top yet in the other hand Federer and Nadal are coming down

Nelslus is a BAD boy!

Truly, though, I think that all four (plus-Roddick) are in a real tenuous place. I suddenly am considering Del Potro stock a LOT more seriously. The huge consideration with Del Potro of course will be how that VERY tall body will hold up over time. I'm not sure that tennis is really meant to be played on a top level for a player QUITE so tall in the long-term. Still, if I'm wrong about this- he looks REAL dangerous to me. And to then think that he has considerable areas in his game that he can improve.....

I'll tell you this much, after what I've been through the second half of this year, I have a whole new appreciation for Del Potro's withdrawals due to back problems a few years ago... And how hard he's had to work to heal and get to the level he has since.

As for me, it has been a long time since I've looked so LITTLE forward to the upcoming start to a tennis year. .
let's start with what I agree

I agree that Murray and Djoko are not at the moment /and for quite/ a while in no position to take the leadership of the tour. Each and every time Murray had the possibility to step up in slams (or this week despite being rested after injury), he disappeared. He probably will be as endorsement/rich as Fed or Rafa but equalling their number of slams; NO #$%$^%$@ WAY!!!

Djoko, well he is very *volatile* and I don't think he'd take the pressure of the number one spot as well as Rodge or Rafa. Will he win other slams?, I really think so, but being a the leader of the tour,\ I can't see it. Plus he'd be doing all those entertainment bits and would be everywhere, he would then become insufferable, eveybody would hate him again, he would become depressed and then lose tournaments etc... a vicious circle!

But, the thing is, DelPo won't be able to do it either at least not in 2010! His fitness is not at 100 percent and if he changes his fitness regimen like Murray and Djoko did, then he'll be scarry because what is great with him is his mental strength. He has cojones: his USO win was superb in that respect.

and Of course, I completely disagree about Fed being washed up!

That's true. But still... I was pretty merciless to him about that stretch of withdrawals and retirements a few years ago. He blamed it on a bad back, and I met that with a great big, "Yeah, right."

Karma's a bitch.

Nothing lasts forever and in the case of Roger it has lasted a long time, but how about delaying any orbituaries at least until they all are slamless?

Then of course a certain Spaniard could be just that in about 2 months...

Unfortunately, nelslus and baby nelslus won't be there for Wimbledon's first day's play, when Rafa* gets knocked out.

(*AND Del Potro and any other players you suddenly decide that you like. )
