Kvitova rarely barks anymore. We got a loud one when she broke for 4-4. I think she can take this now.

Petra

What a great run for Slava though. Hope she can build on what she accomplished her in her singles play.

Kvitova closes it out.

For so many insane results, the semis are three big favorites and a darkhorse out of a wide open quarter.

I've never made a secret about the fact that Maria is not my favorite player. But having said that, great for her to have moved on from her self proclaimed "cow on ice" days to becoming a legitimate contender for this title. Most of the players who look early on in their career that they will never conquer terre battue seem to give up and focus on grass.

I'd be kind of happy to see someone else in the WTA nail a career Slam.
Not so fast... it's not a done deal by any means. I still think the title is up for grabs.

Is anyone giving Almagro a chance in this match? I saw only the highlights of the Janko match, but lord was he on fire. If he goes for broke and the shots land in... I'm thinking Almagro has a prayer here.

Whew. Super relieved for Petra. Gotta bring her A game against Maria from the beginning. Good job Slava. Tough match.

Fully agree. I am just thinking it would be good for tennis as a whole to have another career Slam winner.

But personally, I hope Petra wins the semi. And from what I've seen, I think Sam is playing the best of the four semifinalists, and would be the favoirte at this point.

Almagro is probably the most undernoticed/underrated server in mens tennis.

He has the easiest looking 139mph serves. You look at this motion and then he just somehow produces that much pace. I think given the serve pace, the forehand amount of action and pace on 1 hander, I don't think there is anyone who can match him in terms of looseness of the arm and wrist.
