Serena is seeded #8, Venus #24
http://www.wimbledon.com/en_GB/news/...128657255.html I think it is very fair |

To iterate: she hasn't played in a year. Not only that, but she hasn't played due to injuries, including a pulmonary embolism. I don't think the AELTC will simply ignore this, especially since they'll have only one or two matches to judge her form by, before the seedings are determined.
I can see a courtesy bump to 21-24, as a nod to the best player of the last decade, but it seems incredibly biased to expect more. |

Yeah. I can't see them bumping the top ranks either but I went with a guess of 8. A parallel could potentially be drawn with 2007 where Serena came in cold after having missed basically the entire previous year with injuries and won the AO anyway. She has an excellent record here and hasn't typically needed warm up tournaments the way some other players have.
They will seed her for sure, I think. It's just a question of where. I think it will end up being 8, 16, or 32... the bottom of one of the seed tiers and not 4. |
