Biggest beneficiaries on the men's side are Roddick (up to #8 from #10), Tsonga (up to #12 from #19), Llodra (#19 from #25), Tipsarevic (#23 from #30).

Venus & Serena the only changes for the women.

Explanation of seeding process.

MEN

The seeds are the top 32 players on the ATP Entry System Position (ESP), BUT then rearranged on a surface-based system. Since 2002 a seeding committee has not been required for the Gentlemen’s Singles following an agreement made with the ATP. The seeding order is determined using an objective and transparent system to reflect more accurately an individual player’s grass court achievements: The formula is:

· Take ESP points at 13 June 2011

· Add 100% points earned for all grass court tournaments in the past 12 months

· Add 75% points earned for the best grass court tournament in the 12 months before that.

LADIES

The seeding order follows the WTA ranking list, except where in the opinion of the committee, a change is necessary to produce a balanced draw.

The only changes this year are Serena Williams and Venus Williams moving to 8 and 24 respectively. This reflects the balance between their proven records and also their lack of competitive play in the past 12 months.

From Wimbeldon Referees:

15/06/2011
Number 2 seed Kim CLIJSTERS (BEL) has withdrawn from the Ladies' Singles, due to a foot injury. A statement from Kim reads:

"I’m very very disappointed to have to withdraw from Wimbledon after injuring my foot again at the tournament in ‘S Hertogenbosch. At this moment I feel frustrated that it has to happen now before one of my favourite tournaments. I’ve always enjoyed being a part of the Wimbledon atmosphere but I have no other choice now but to rest, recover and to not play tennis for a few weeks."

14/06/2011
Sam QUERREY, Sam (USA) has withdrawn from Men's singles due to an elbow injury (to be replaced by a lucky loser from qualifying)
15/06/2011
Benjamin BECKER (GER) has withdrawn from Men's singles, due to an elbow injury (to be replaced by a lucky loser from qualifying)

We should just re-name that spot.

E.g. "Wonder who's gonna nab the Pironkova at the US Open?"

Totally called this yesterday, lol.

Sad that it has to be at the hands (or ankles?) of Kim.

Such a horrible state of affairs when Almagro who won 4 matches on grass in his career is seeded higher than Richard....

And Richard is ranked higher NOW. And he has 32-13 record on grass. Almagro has 4-8. Disgusting.

No doubt he has a much better proven grass record and should not be dropped in the seedings. But, they have a formula!

I know there's no reason to complain, but I feel like whining. Roger should have been seeded #2!!!!

And, when was the last time he played Wimbledon anyway? Not last year or the year before.

I think it's time to change up that formula.

Yes, he was injured last year and was suspended year before.
The formula makes no sense to me. Overall grass court accomplishments should be taken into consideration. If he would have lost in first round for few years in a row, then fine, but he is being penalized for unable to compete for couple years.

You know, if it were 15/16, it wouldn't make as big a difference, but 16/17 means facing a top seed earlier, which blows.

Of course, if Richard draws Roddick...
