Default 2-handed FH on the ATP Tour
I find the two-handed forehand to be an interesting shot, and it's fun to keep track of which players use it. As far as I can tell there aren't any current men's players of note with a 2-handed forehand. I think Ramone Sluiter is retired, though I could be wrong. Can anyone think of a man who does have a 2hFH?

As for the WTA, I can think of Bartoli, Peng, Parra Santonja, Morita, Nakamura, and Yan. Any others in, say, the top 200?

Gambill was two-handed on both sides. Had some success here and there. But he's not active now.

and very easy on the eyes. Why do think no one has reached (or come that close)the level that Monica did with the 2 handed FH? Also, has there ever been a player with a 2 handed forehand and a 1 handed backhand?

That one stumps me.

Was it Koulikovskaya, though, who was ambidextrous and hit forehands on both sides? Do I have the wrong Russian?

I think he still keeps trying to make comeback now and then, but it seems like he always has to retire during his matches. But yeah, he was up to 12 in the world at one point, I think--the same year he made the quarters of Wimbledon.

Maria Sanchez Lorenzo (not a Russian, though) switched her hand position depending on whether it was a forehand or a "backhand". Is this what you mean?

Not exactly. I know it was a Russian and her ranking topped out in the 90s or so before she faded away. Saw her play once in a major, I believe, and hitting forehands on both sides was really, well, jolting. I'm 90% sure it was Koulikovskaya, but I'm too lazy to look it up.

Pancho Segura used the two handed forehand back in the day. I have never seen him play a full match but it looked pretty darn solid. In general, though, it doesn't seem like a viable shot for professional men. You lose a bit of the reach and you can't generate the type of whip and spin and versatility

Gotcha. Never saw Evgenia play, so I can't help there. MSL is another example of the same thing, though. It was weird to watch her change her hand position every time she went to hit a backhand.

Ilija Bozoljac has a two-handed FH, but that's the only men's I can think of.

On the women's, other than the ones you mentioned, Hradecka, Niculescu, Margit Ruutel, Kumiko Iijima, Kristina Kucova, Noppawan Lertcheewakarn, Jing-Jing Lu, So-Jung Kim, Shuko Aoyama, Su-Wei Hsieh. Those are from the top 300 or so and I'm sure there are more but I can't think of them at the moment

This belongs in the "You know you're a tennis fan..." thread.
I've never heard some of these names, but I already love Jing-Jing

Man, I forgot about trickly little Niculescu -- and Hradecka and Lertcheewakarn (who I knew nothing about until I saw her play some WTT).

You mean her backhand was like Berasategui's?

I think he also had a two-footed forehand in his bg of tricks.

LOL, yes, and one where he hit it with the racquet clenched in his teeth.

With some wicked slice, too.
