Well thank God Marion is playing this week. I wouldn't want her not to have lost in about 10 claycourt leadup tournaments.

I was up late and watched half of the first set.

Cornet was almost unrecognizable to me. She's really bulked up her arms, and was hitting the ball with some pretty heavy topspin. She may do well at the French.

Mirza is enraging as always. I honestly don't understand how she's even ranked as high as she is. I watched a match of hers earlier this year too, and she absolutely positively cannot run around her backhand. Her backhand is really really solid, but anytime a ball is coming towards her with medium/low pace she tries to run around it and whack a forehand. She misses about 80% of the time. I am honestly not exaggerating that stat. Her footwork is atrocious.

I saw the end of the match and Charlie is 100% correct. Unfortunately Sania has been playing the same way for awhile now and I don't think she'll change her game now.

Thanks, Charlie and Ti-Amie!

I haven't seen her play recently. Even end of last year, she seemed to be hitting harder. Yeah, hope she can catch some fire soon!

Yeah, you are totally right. Sometimes (mostly when she's confident against weaker players), her forehand is really on and that strategy of running around her backhand pays off. But most players in the top 50 quickly realize that it works to rally her until she makes an error...or just make her run a little.
