As one of our editors said: Throw a bucket of entrails against a wall, and see if that spells a name. None of the above? We could even see something wacky with someone like Petkovic, Kanepi, Petrova, Rezai, or Kleybanova if the stars align. Stosur, however, would choke in the final of an applesauce eating contest. |

This slam is going to have some pretty big upsets based on the simple fact that there are more than 8 legitimate contenders. At least one of them has to lose in the fourth round.
I would say the entire top 10 has okay odds. Add in Goerges and Kuznetsova as dark horses. Then there are those with a shot at beating a contender and making a QF but not winning. I'm thinking of A Rad, Kanepi, Kleybanova, Petrova, Pennetta, and AMG. It amounts to what we in the scientific community refer to as a cluster****. |

And to make the field even more wide open:
The Rapture will happen on Sunday, and the only WTA that will be transported to kingdom come is Saint Kimmie, so there you go. Drop her out of the poll. And yes, to those that mentioned that Georges, Kvitova et all have changes, you are correct. But I didn't want to make a 10 choices list. (And I could not find anything funny to say about Goerges) |
