I agree that the draw is balanced.

But it still sucks. For all the reasons already cited. Wrong quarter, wrong half, wrong everything. Sucks BDP.

I saw her draw and thought "She owes somebody a muffin basket."

Pironkova has been playing terrible tennis since Wimbledon, and Pennetta hasn't been playing well either, and is seeded to lose to Peer. Venus' most likely path to the QF is scrub-scrub-scrub-Peer.
It's all about matchups. Sure, they're scrubs, but they're scrubs that are bad matchups for Venus/are in Venus' head.
Doesn't matter if they haven't won a tourney/match all summer-or in a few years. They're still bad matchups for her.

What I was saying is that Pironkova and Pennetta probably won't get to the point where they would play Venus.

I think that the quarter with Venus and Zvonareva is definitely the easiest section. There are a few potential dangers like Pironkova but think Vera is the pick of that quarter. I've written about my thoughts on it on www.allballsallowed.wordpress.com. I think it will be Azarenka v Sharapova in the final with Maria winning it.

Venus and Zvonareva are in different quarters. Venus is with Schiavone and Zvonareva is with Jankovic.
