I think Dinara started hitting like a week ago...
Oh NO! Why is she even playing? She is going to re-injure herself

Withdraw Dinara, withdraw, withdraw!!!!

Because she's Dinara.

Hopefully she doesn't hurt herself any further.

Very nice seeing Jidkova's name in the qualy draw. But you gotta wonder (and I don't say this to slight her, because I like her) where does the drive come from at this stage of your career?

She's 33 and hasn't made it to a main level WTA match all year (she has not won a WTA level main draw match since the old Quebec City event back in the fall of 2007). She mixes ITF events with attempts to qualify into a number of tour events each year.

Stanford qualies is the 14th event she has entered this season. Her record for the year is 7-13. Yet she finds the motivation to pick up and move on to the next city week after week, while not even (seemingly) making enough money for airfare to the next tournament.
I was just thinking the same about George Bastl. He's 35 and beyond 800 in the rankings, but still keeps on playing, this week in Gstaad qualifiying, making something like 300 $. Puzzling what keeps him going.

Kimiko's no threat to Dinara if she is healthy.......
C'mon missin... Wet toast is a threat to Dinara.

::

And about the paramedics, the second quarter has potential as well. Maybe they can hire the pizza delivery guy from Colorado? Scratch that. Marion will probably demand he bring pizzas on court for all of her 427 injury timeouts.

Meanie! Are you one of those naysayers who thought that she'd never get her game under control and temper under control enough and jack up her movement enough to be a top ten player and a threat at every slam?

If she gets mentally tougher, she's going to her slam and even if she DOESNT get mentally tougher, she's still a major threat wherever she plays AS LONG as she's not injured.

Wet Toast vs Dinara huh?

I LOVE Dinara. And trust me, I'm very sensitive when it comes to back issues. I hate the fact that her progress was interrupted by this terrible injury. Nothing would please me more than to see her get back to where she was and eventually win a major, as long as she doesn't go through my dear Venus in the process.

I'd love to see a Venus / Dinara final anywhere anytime. Precious little would make me drool more than that final!
