[QUOTE=hawkgirl98;575712]3. What's typical attire for fans at Wimbledon? I feel like it may not be quite as casual as the US or Aussie Opens... would I look out of place wearing jeans?[QUOTE]

LOL. Check out the pictures of what fans wore for the queen.

Hi again everyone! Thanks again for all the tips. I decided to queue this morning and made it there by about 7:30 am. Was number 2872. We started moving around 8:45 and I was on the grounds by 10:30 am.

Headed straight over to the practice court area and caught John Isner walking out of the players area and managed to get him to sign my program (and even though it's illegible, that program will now be saved for eternity!).

My plan was to head to court 18 for the end of Molik-Arn and the conclusion of Isner-Mahut before moving on to see possibly Mardy Fish and/or Melanie Oudin. Um, yeah, that never happened! After queuing for an hour to get in the lower level seats on court 18, in time to see the last few games of the women, I settled in a front row seat in the corner, figuring the 5th set would take oh, about an hour or so and then I would go grab some lunch. Ha! You all know the rest!

I can't even tell you how lucky I feel to have been at that match today. I got chills when the players got a standing ovation when they hit game 50. By the time they were in the 20s, we all knew we were watching something special, but we couldn't even fathom how special. As they kept going, we just kept laughing and shaking our heads in disbelief at what we were seeing.

At the same time, it was such a letdown to leave without the match being concluded! Since my Centre Court tickets are for tomorrow, I at least get to go back but I can't even imagine how crowded court 18 will be - I'm going to do my best to get back on, though, because it just doesn't feel right not to see the end!
How awesome!! The tennis memory of a lifetime!

Were you actually there for all seven hours of the fifth set? Did you manage anything to eat? Is it possible to leave to get food or use the washroom without losing your seat and/or queuing up again?

OK, the gal in the yellow tank top TOTALLY goes to the Hantuchova/Benesova school of "how short can it be and still get labeled a skirt?"

I was there for all seven hours on Wednesday and got back on court for the end yesterday. Basically, on Weds, I had some strawberries & cream and a Diet Pepsi, hit the restroom, and then got in the queue for court 18 while Arn/Molik were still playing. I queued to get in the lower, courtside seats and waited for an hour to get on and caught the end of the women's match. Once on court, there is no leaving since you have to queue again to get back on! Luckily, I had a granola bar in my purse so I snacked on that after a couple hours and drank my Pepsi slowly to conserve it and to not have to pee! By 7 p.m. or so, the steward minding the entrance to my section said people in the queue were actually offering hundreds of pounds to take someone's place - not sure how serious they were, but it wouldn't have surprised me!

Yesterday I had Centre Court tickets so started off watching the first set of the Murray match which started at 1 p.m. Left that after one set to queue again for court 18 - about 1:45. Again, hit the bathroom and grabbed some water and snacks this time because who knew how long they'd be out there! The queue for the lower seats was very long already and I figured I didn't have a shot at getting back where I was on Wednesday, so instead I went up top to queue for the higher seats at the end of the court. Pennetta was flying through her match, so I was glad I went when I did. Right after I got in the queue, the guy in front of me told the guy in front of him that the match had moved to court 5 and they both left. I had a momentary feeling of panic but thought logically there was no way they'd move it and stayed where I was. I got onto the court as soon as Pennetta was done and just had to wait about an hour until the 3:30 start time for Isner-Mahut.

I have to say, I was very surprised Isner pulled it out. Both Weds and yesterday, his body language was not too positive and early on, Mahut seemed to be taking more points on Isner's serve and not giving up anything on his. Everytime someone even got to love-15, the crowd went nuts, sensing the slight opening. The atmosphere when Isner finally got to the last match point was insane and you could see the backhand up the line open up and were just hoping he wouldn't try too hard or go for too much on it!

The only disappointment (and it's petty) was that they had the players pose for a picture with the scoreboard on the end under the large stands, so the majority of fans at the match could not get a picture of it. I realize that was the best shot for the media, but it was disappointing - we were all screaming and chanting for them to do the picture on the other end of the court (selfish, I know, but hey, we wanted that picture of history)

I'm still kind of in awe that I was there to see it all. I've been to some fairly signifcant tennis matches before (Clijsters' first US Open, Agassi/Fed's US Open final, Agassi's last match ever...), but this was so far above and beyond any of those and I really can't imagine anything ever coming close. In sports in general it is hard to come up with anything that compares!

I just got back to the US and will upload pictures and write up a blog post on my whole Wimby experience this weekend and will post once I do.
