Well, exhibitionism has always been a prominent hobby of both sisters (well documented in these pages if you are not lazy to search)...
This is what the daily mail had to say about it:

I'd love to see her wear something similar at Wimbledon just to see their reaction!

AP photo:

This takes "who wears short shorts" to a whole nother level.

(I'm personally not a fan of the brown shorts especially with this dress. They don't match! )

Me, I think this is an embarassment.
Where is Samantha Jones when you need her? (Publicity services, that is.)

My friend's reaction: "That's not Venus. That's Huranus."

Considering what happened when Tati wore the red panties, I would expect an implosion.

Exhibitionism? I can think of some examples for Serena, I suppose, but the only thing I can remember that Venus has done that would come close to qualifying for that is the picture book (see avatar), yet most people would qualify that as the artistic expression of a renowned photographer using Venus as a subject. If Fernando Verdasco can do underwear ads and Novak can parade around on a runway in underwear as part of a fashion show, and neither of them are ashamed of their bodies (and I have no problem with either of them doing that, there's nothing wrong with it at all), then I don't know why Venus or any other woman should be ashamed of her body.

I don't like the undergarments, either. I wish they were black or the reddish/purple color in the dress and not flesh-toned. But if I had a dime for every time a photograph showed Mattek's deep cleavage (USO leopard/gold outfit) or the shapely butt of a female player or a huge bulge in a guy's shorts or Radek's see-through shorts at last year's USO, I'd be rich.

The problem is the color, not the fact that one can see the outline of Venus' butt. If seeing the shape of a woman's butt is shameful to the WTA, it's going to be a long and damaging French Open--and every other tournament as well.

Perhaps we should force the women to wear traditional culottes?

Most certainly Serena more than Venus, but there are some other minor examples from her as well...

Anyway whatever suits her, I don't really care (besides such good views are only available in still photos). However, most other players (including some very attractive ones) don't dress like that and one can ask why do it?

P.S. As for Novak and Fernando lets wait till we see them playing in just underwear. To make an extreme example, nothing wrong with wearing a bikini, but would you suggest that for a business meeting?

One can also ask, why not? Are we going to force the guys to go to the locker room to change their shirts? What's the difference between the shape of a woman's butt and a man's bare chest?

Maybe it's just me, Dry...but the message Venus appears to be sending with this is that "sex sells". And Venus has always struck me as the kind of person who campaigns internationally for women's equality in a way that belies that message. I just find a contradiction in the two messages.

Am I holding her to a higher standard? I kind of think I am. But only because she has put herself out there as someone who is trying to raise the discussion to a higher standard.

It's not the shape. It's that it appears as though she is not wearing any shorts because they are so thin and matched to her skin tone. If nothing else, it just appears a little clueless.
