I checked the h2h. Venus and Serena have played each other on clay twice, once in 1999 and once in 2002 (French final).

While not favorites, there are a number of "names" missing from the draw. Na Li, Bartoli, Medina Garrigues, Szavay, A-Bond spring to mind.

I thought the whole idea of Roadmap was to have the top players in the top events. After RG, Rome is one of the two premiere clay events.

Isn't that a litte....
?

While I don't expect them all to play, have 10 of the top 10 in the field would be a good accomplishment. It's a strong draw, in my opinion.

Oh, it's an outstanding field, Charlie, don't get me wrong. I was just surprised that I didn't see some names when I posted the draw.

Maybe Henin doesn't want to overplay?

I wonder what Bartoli is doing. I am curious about the several missing 11-25ers.

Justine would not have been eligible for direct entry I think, since it would have been determined around IW time who got in based on ranking. And she either passed on a WC, or the organizers were comitted to handing out all the WCs to Italian players.

Thanks.

That's a big name missing right there.

I won't speculate on Serena's form, but I don't see anyone in her draw that would prevent her from making the semis (other than herself/injury), including Stosur and Kuznetsova.
