From the Fed Cup website...Clijsters hurt her foot during the tie:

There was worse news to follow for the two-time US Open champion, however, who was taken to hospital for an x-ray on her left foot. “I heard a crack,” said Clijsters, having received treatment during the second set.

Possible six weeks, sounds bad but I'll wait and see. And not to be attacked by Kim fans but before she retired we had messages like this, of Kim possibly missing tournament only to see her play. Maybe this is just a precautionary message.

Sooner the better. Playing qualifying is better training than losing first rounds. She's a hot mess.
