Ernests Gulbis of Latvia, who made some noise making the St. Pete semis last year, won a challenger in France (Bensancon) this week. Â*The kid looks promising. He's 18 still.
He is. I believe he is know the second youngest player in top 100 (del Potro is 3 weeks younger)

I think that I saw this kid in the Quallies of something last year.

The Cherbourg "Bring your own umbrellas" challenger looks very nice. Karslen and Dick Norman and Christophe Rochus.

French only.

Here's the singles draw:

I love that their "live score" is a digital photo of the actual scoreboard.

Tsonga played so well in Melbourne and had to get into this event via a WC. You never know.

I thought it was worth mentioning that Daniel Brands, ranked 488, and also a fortunate loser in the qualies, beat Alexander Peya to reach the finals of the Challenger in Germany. He'll play Robin Haase on the Netherlands in the finals tomorrow.

Do you know anything else about him, mr. j?

Luzzi v. Haehnel in Cherbourg

As for women - tomorrow's Las Vegas final between Morigami and Caroline Wozniacki will be on TTC at 3pm EST. Might be your only chance to see a whole match with Wozniacki before she starts taking out top seeds in slams.

Tatiana Poutchek and Vika Azarenka of Belarus won the doubles. They have won all 3 events they entered this year. Poutchek is 28, Azarenka 17. In singles, Poutchek took out Azarenka.

Agreed on Wozniacki. Too bad I have to work (actually sleep! ;D). I know nothing else about Brands. They don't even have his birthday on the ATP site. Other than Peya, I didn't really know anyone that he beat.

ATP seems to know nothing about this Brand (not even date of birth). He is probably quite young since he first appeared on rankings 2 1/2 years ago.

By the way Wozniacki has lost only once this year (to Venus in Memphis). TodayÂ’s victory should have been shorter since she was up 6-0, 5-2 at one point. It might be worth watching tomorrows final. Too bad I don't have TTC

Further "research" shows that Daniel Brand is 19 years old.
