She's only 21. That's part of the real shame of the whole thing.

I doubt she was ever going to be a Slam singles winner (her and Gasquet did win a mixed doubles Slam title), but she had the talent to capture some rather decent sized hardware. She was always a good mover, with a great forehand. And I always thought highly of her first serve.

And while the red knickers got to be the talk of the town, there was another outfit that earned her one particularly endearing nickname....

Ah yes, Wimbledon 2004 - this is the Tati I saw play (shortly after her French Open Mixed title with Gasquet when they were both teenagers).

Surprisingly, my hubby was not impressed.

Nobody wore red like Tatipants. Good luck in medialand, and I hope the physical discomfort becomes/remains as minimal as possible. Not the way to go out, indeed.
