Ahhhh Roberta Vinci's had some convincing wins lately. Anyone want to put some money down that she can send Dinara home?

Okay, someone needs to explain these byes to me It isn't by seed...Na, A-Rad and Jankovic....

If you are a semifinalist for Toray..you automatically get a bye for the China Open? Does this happen anywhere else on the tour?

I thought Byes were dished out according to seeds.......

I love how Jankovic, Sharapova and Azarenka all have to do battle for the right to play Serena....in the quarters!

This is anotehr WTA week that has "potential mess" written all over it.

Yes, the semifinalists at Rome also got byes to Madrid earlier this year. The winners of the byes were Safina, Kuznetsova, V Williams, and Azarenka. Roadmap changed a few things. Originally, Madrid and Beijing were 64 player fields until the players got together with management about the schedule and this was agreed upon if I recall.

This is the exception to that rule. If they didn't do it this way there would be no incentive for a higher ranked player to play the PPO.

Beijing Qualifying

Out Bastl In Klec
Interestingly enough, if ever there were a person in the world who one would automatically think of when hearing a passerby muttering "Klec", it would be George Bastl.

I disagree. I would just remove the word potential.

Ahhhh Roberta Vinci's had some convincing wins lately. Anyone want to put some money down that she can send Dinara home?
Only if I get to put the money on Vinci!
