RUMA, Serbia (AP)—Australian tennis player Jelena Dokic’s father went on trial Friday in his native Serbia on charges that he threatened the Australian ambassador. Damir Dokic could face up to eight years in prison if found guilty of “endangering the security” of the ambassador and unlawful possession of weapons. Dokic appeared calm as he arrived under police escort at the court in Ruma, a town about 30 miles northwest of Belgrade. He was arrested earlier this month after reportedly saying he would blow up ambassador Clair Birgin’s car if she didn’t stop negative articles about him from being published in Australia. Jelena Dokic had given interviews to Australian media, saying her father had beaten her. Dokic told Serbian media he would fire a rocket launcher at Birgin’s car, but later said the statements were made in anger. He also has admitted having beaten his daughter. http://sports.yahoo.com/ten/news?slu...v=ap&type=lgns |

BELGRADE, Serbia — The lawyer for tennis player Jelena Dokic's jailed father says he has launched a hunger strike to protest his 15-month prison sentence. Damir Dokic was convicted for threatening the Australian ambassador in Belgrade and unlawful possession of weapons. His sentence has been confirmed in a retrial. Dokic's lawyer, Bosiljka Djukic, says she was informed Thursday by Dokic's wife that he was no longer taking food or water. Djukic says she will visit her client in a prison in northern Serbia on Friday. Dokic was arrested in May after reportedly saying he would blow up ambassador Claire Birgin's car if she didn't stop negative articles about him from being published in Australia. The father of tennis player Jelena Dokic will face a retrial on the charges that he threatened the Australian ambassador to Serbia.
Damir Dokic was sentenced to 15 months in jail in June, but a retrial was ordered because ambassador Claire Birgin did not testify in person during the original hearing. She was as instead represented by a lawyer. Mr Dokic, 50, was brought under police escort to the court in Ruma, a town about 30 miles northwest of Belgrade. "We expect justice from the court and that Damir will be a free man," Bosiljka Djukic, Mr Dokic's lawyer, said before the court proceedings started. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/spo...cle6847363.ece |

A retrial in Serbia has confirmed Damir Dokic's 15-month jail sentence for threatening the Australian ambassador in Belgrade.
The threats were made in relation to comments by Dokic's estranged daughter Jelena in an interview with an Australian publication. Dokic's lawyer plans to reappeal. The retrial was ordered partly because the Australian ambassador did not testify in person during the original hearing. The ambassador again did not testify in person during the retrial. http://www.tennis.com/news/ticker.aspx |

Ironically there are no links to Schillinger that I'd even post here. Schillinger gave his cell mate a swastika tattoo on a part of his body that made his cellmate's wife leave him after her first, and last conjugal visit? The cell mate was a lawyer who was in for DUI because it was an election year.
