I'll put this question here because I don't want to start a thread. Kim will not have enough tournaments to break into the top ten. Does the WTA have a rule that invites all GS champions to the YEC (kind of the ATP) or will she be left out of that tourney? I think the invitations are based only on the rankings. But my guess is Kim would turn it down. |

I did. Because Kimmy had a baby...she NEVER lost her tennis game I thought combination of her history (which I thought could resurface during pressure most times) and her simply lack of tournaments or even matches could prove to be too much for her. |

Those are very nice words towards Kim and she certainly deserves it, but are we quickly to forget how she stormed into semis (or finals) so many times in her career before having meltdowns or just being too passive against big time player like Justine, Serena or Venus? I predicted for her to make it to the finals....but I acutally predicted Wozniacki to win the final match because I WAS looking for the meltdown. But I think.....Kim was the strongest contender outside of Serena to come out of the bottom half. That passive play? I think it went out the window when she decided to come back and the only reason was...to win it. There was no other reason for her to come back. She as much said so. There is no reason for her to come back just to play tennis...she could do that any day any where. Kimmy came to win. And I personally thought she would defeat Serena and then..lose in the final...with her meltdown.....typical stuff from her. But.... Don't forget who she was up against. Kim's still the veteran when it comes to slams and finals over Caro. And Kim's life experiences are longer and stronger quality.....Caro never went through childbirth. Kimmy now has....different priorities than when it was just her by herself. So she has a strength of character NOW that she didn't have before. And Caro's game lacks a maturity that comes only from experience. So Kim's win really doesn't qualify as an upset to me. Or maybe...I just had high expectations of her. But I'm telling you....having a baby changes EVERYTHING about who you are and how you look at the world and the way you feel about certain things. And Kimmy....is changed in some regards to this. To me....Kim's win is more of a ....just the way it should be ....kind of situation while Vlad's...that was a true upset esp. given how strong, focused and aggressive Federer was in the first set. And then Fed lost it and Del Po pounced but even so....I didn't really expect it....I mean....Fed's been ruling the US Open for five years now....There hasn't been a five setter in what..ten years now? It was just inconceivable to me that Del Po would change US Open history so dyammm much. I just didn't see it happening but I was heart broken when it did. He pulled it off. And those last points..they were so critical.....typically...this is where and how other player fail to dismantle Roger ![]() |

If you stopped following tennis closely, outside of the Slams, a year or so ago, and not much at all for the last month, which means you likely know Kim is playing again and Federer humiliated del Potro in a Slam at the beginning of the year, and a friend of yours who does follow tennis closely calls you up and says, If I told you Kim beat Serena in the semis of the USO in her first Slam back, and del Potro beat Fed in 5 sets to take his first Slam title in his first Slam final, which one of those scenarios would you find most believable? I think the responses would be overwhelmingly one-sided. I could be wrong.
