Default Frenchies in New York
You asked for it (well some of you at least ) so here it is ! The Frenchie in NY blog by yours truly Madame (a nice french Gal ...)

:bleus::bleus::bleus:

French ladies first day went more or less as planned

Marion beat down Rossana. She seams to be in great shape and nothing left of the thigh problem for which she retired last week in New Haven. The problem now is that Kim Klijsters is next. Kim that won their last encounter in Cincinnati in two short sets. So who will show up on Wednesday: The Marion that won Stanford or the one that lost to Kim ?

Mathilde had a great first set against MLDB the shrieker. But Then Michelle woke up and Mathilde faltered, losing in three sets.

Finally Amelie won her first round against German back in form Tatjana Malek. She almost scared us in the second set by losing one of her two easily won breaks, but managed to close it in two sets at the third match point. Next for Amélie is the strong Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak.

As for the boys, Marc Giquel had a good match beating Tursunov in four sets while Paulo showed his GEM status by losing to his nemesis, Mikhail Youzhny. Marc next meets Andy Roddick. Good luck mate !

Results:
M. Bartoli (14) d. R. De Los Rios (Par) 6/1, 6/0
A. Mauresmo (17) d. T. Malek (All) 6/3, 6/4
M. Larcher de Brito (Por) d. M. Johansson 1/6, 7/5, 6/1

M. Gicquel d. D. Tursunov (Rus) 6/2, 5/7, 6/3, 6/3
M. Youzhny (Rus) d. P.H. Mathieu (26)*2/6, 7/5, 6/0, 6/2

Preview:
Today 11 frenchies on board, 4 boys and 7 girls. Don't miss Jo-Willy starting the Grandstand program and check-out the french wild-card, Kristina Mladenovic. She's a very promising young but big and strong lady. Also Aravane Rezaï against Sabine Lisicki should be some match !

NY ambiance

Yay! I love your reports on the Frenchies, Madame!

I'm really looking forward to Rezai/Lisicki. That could be a fun match. The pic of the French fan looks like a Dr. Seuss character. LOL.

Thanks for starting the Frenchie update again.

Agree that Aravane and Sabine could be a very good match.

Gicquel killed me in the men's SP. I should have known better than to pick Tursunov anyway.

For the Girls:
C’est la Bérézina!*

From the difficult first round of a junior wild card, Kristina, to the defeat of seed number 16 Virginie Razzano, the french ladies stumbled through the day.

Aravane fought hard against Sabine Lisicki, but the german is really on this season. Good luck to her.

Séverine Brémond had not enough matches under the belt to beat Martic. She hopes to get back to form for the Aussie …

Camille has already done good by qualifying and Elena is just cruising through. Go Elena ! I have you winning the whole thing !

Only Julie Coin and Alize managed to get to round 2. Julie had a good match against qualifier Hrdinova (how do you pronounce this ?) but now faces Nadia Petrova ! Alize barely managed to pass in three sets and more then 2 hours against unknown australian qualifier Adamczak. She really needs a boost to get farther. Allez Alize ! Jie Zheng is a much stronger opponent.

*Name of a famous defeat of Napoleon used to represent total disaster ...

For the Boys:
C'est un festival ! :bleus:

Jo started the day strong against number 920 in the World Chase Buchanan. Jo said it again, he loves NY, he wants to win matches here. Allez Jo !

Next Julien Benneteau managed to pass Flavio Cipolla in 4 sets. He will meet Victor Troïcki in the next round who had to fight five sets to get there.

Finally Florent Serra showed his good form by beating Tipsy in three tie-breaks and Josselin Ouanna repeated his RG form by outing Rajeev Ram.

Bravo les mecs !

Preview: tomorrow(today) is a bad day, I think I'll skip it .

Results:
Men:
J.W. Tsonga (7)*d. C. Buchanan (EU)*6/0, 6/2, 6/1
J. Benneteau d. F. Cipolla (Ita) 4/6, 6/1, 6/3, 6/3
F. Serra d. J. Tipsarevic (Ser) 7/6(8), 7/6(5), 7/6(4)
J. Ouanna (Q) d. R. Ram (EU/WC) 7/6(4), 6/4, 3/6, 6/3

Women:
S. Dubois (Can) d. K. Mladenovic 6/0, 6/4
P. Martic (Cro) d. S. Brémond Beltrame 6/4, 6/2
Y. Wickmayer (Bel) d. V. Razzano (16) 6/4, 6/3
S. Lisicki (All/23) d. A. Rezai 7/6(4), 6/7(4), 6/1
J. Coin d. E. Hrdinova (Rtc) 6/3, 6/3

I have Julien beating Troicki in my BoTB so I'll definitely be rooting for him. And do not discard one of those dismal appearances (and subsequent disappearance) of Gonzo.

And do not stop posting, we like your thread even if we do not comment

We hadn't posted anything, because you're just so darn CUTE when you get pissed off with us.

Alternate message: Madame- PLEASE keep posting. I truly enjoy this thread. And- as always, I LOVE the Frenchies (and HATE that the French women underperformed here so badly.)

Marion had a tough 2nd round draw vs Kim. Surprised that Virginie was eliminated early as I had her going to the R16.
