I think the sqard for some teams are:

FRANCE:

  • Starters: Bartoli, Cornet, Golovin, Loit
  • Substitutes: Parmentier, Pierce, Mauresmo, Razzano, Beltrame-Bremond, Foretz, Cohen-Aloro, Rezai, Pin, Fedossova
  • Suspension: Dechy (2 years)

CZECH REPUBLIC

  • Starters: Vaidisova, Safarova, Koukalova-Zakopalova, Kvitova
  • Substitutes: Zahlavova Strycova, Voracova, Ondraskova, Cetkovska, Kleinova, Sromova, Birnerova, Uhlirova
  • Suspension: Benesova (2 years)

ITALY

  • Starters: Pennetta, Santangelo, Vinci, Knapp
  • Substitutes: Errani, Garbin, Camerin, Brianti, Vierin
  • Suspension: Schiavone (1 year)

USA

  • Starters: Davenport, S. Williams, Shaughnessy, Tu
  • Substitues: V. Williams, Mattek, Harkleroad, Haynes, Craybas, Osterloh, Stevenson, Granville, Rubin, Glatch, Gullickson, Washington, Jackson
  • Suspension: Raymond, King (both 1 year)

What do you think?

Apart from the suspensions, which are simply not an issue, there's a couple of things I'd change in the French starting lineup to start with.

First, I doubt Bartoli is willing to be part of the FedCup team, especially if that includes Golovin. Instead of Loit I'd think they'd either use Mauresmo, Parmentier or Rezai, maybe even Pierce if she manages to make a strong comeback this year.

I'd drop Bremond as a sub without batting an eyelid. Seriously, she's hardly had any significant match victories since her little Wimbledon run a couple of years ago. The rest of the possible subs you've named, well...

Why I post this, because:

  • Raymond didn't perform the period of suspension completely and King lost the most critical single tie when USA was falling behind their opponents 0-2
  • Benesova didn't perform the period of suspension for she lost the last deciding with Hrdlickova-Peschke in play-off at two year ago, also she played again. As a result Czech didn't comebck the World-Group I.
  • Schiavone lost the most critical single tie when Italy was falling behind Russia 0-2 at last year.
  • Dechy didn't perform the period of suspension for she lost the last decidng doubles match with Beltrame-Bremond at last year, also she played again. As a result she lost this most important match again.

Do you understand now?

Not only do I understand, PierceCheng, I think you're a model of patience and tolerance for not ordering the losing FedCup squads to be executed immediately following the ties.

Because that's what I would do if I was in charge...

LOL!

Seriously though, PierceCheng, I'm curious how you maintain your belief in this system of yours. I suppose I haven't followed the Fed Cup too closely, but it seems to me that they almost always field the highest ranked players available.

Do you get upset when a player who lost a deciding tie is on the team next year?
