I thought Mladenovic was the young prodigy. Zarina Diyas is even younger, only 15!

15 year old Zarina Diyas (Kazakhstan, # 295) has reached her first WTA QF (on the first try I believe)

She's manhandled two fairly decent players thus far. You'd think that, at some point, reality ought to set in.

But hopefully not TOO soon... Ziti for Brains here picked her to make the final.

Nostradamus of the year you will be, if that happens.

I've heard about her before, but a major surprise nonetheless.

How I wish you were right, suliso.

But truth be told, I would be just one lucky little bastard. I couldn't figure out who to pick from that half. I had been burned by everyone else in that half and figured she just might be fearless enough to make the final. Fifteen-year-old can be like that.

I think it's so funny with Kazakhstan buying all these players that an actual Kazakh is shooting through. Maybe she'll defect to Russia

Funny indeed...

By the way Zarina has been living in Prague for several years now. Her coach is Czech and she speaks the language very well. I don't think Russia would be the first option.
