I just noticed this, I don't remember seeing byes in a grand slam doubles draw before.

What is it, they couldn't find enough teams to fill up the mixed doubles draw this year? That's really sad.

The Wimby mixed draw is a 64 draw with 16 of byes, while the Aussie Open and Roland Garros are only 32 draw events. So Wimby actually has MORE teams playing than the other slams.

Ah, thanks. I realized it minutes after posting when I saw 2 pages of mixed dubs draw. The 2008 draw had just 32 teams. Is this a change only Wimbledon is adapting?

Now that, I don't know.

They're so tradition-bound, that I have a hard time imagining some official thinking "gee, a lot of players want to enter mixed, and we're supposed to have several dry days, so why not just make the draw bigger?" But maybe that's what happened.
