a question for our ranking experts: How come Haas is seeded 24? He wasn't seeded at all before Monfils withdrew, so shouldn't he be the 32nd seed?

I think he was bumped up by the Wimbledon seeding committee.

Once he got into a seeded position with the Monfils withdraw, they then used the formula to place him (the grass results formula). Since he won Halle last week, and was a semi-finalist at Halle in 2008, he had a huge amount of grass points that gave him a boost, which is why he was 24 instead of 32.

thanks, MJ and Moose. I didn't realize they only use the formula for players who normally would be seeded anyways. I thought they'd use it for all players.

Wow...I totally missed Blake - Santoro! Here's hoping it's even half as fun as a couple years ago

I wonder why, if you're just going to announce that, yes, you will be playing, you have to call a press conference. I really hope I'm wrong, but I'm afraid that Rafa won't play. I mean, he's there in the draw and everything, so if he was going to play, shouldn't he just not say anything? anyways, just some random thoughts...

Yeah, that always threw me, too. But it's only those would have gotten seeded anyways who get the special consideration. Which is why someone like Montanes is still seeded.

I guess you still want to answer questions on your condition even if you are going to play.

I hope, I hope...
