  • Alexandre Sidorenko FRA (30)
  • Ilia Bozoljac SRB (7) (really tough section, hope Ilia defends his R2 points...)

  • Lukas Rosol CZE (22) (Rosol is really overdue for a breakout)
  • Dominik Hrbaty SVK (31)

  • Luka Gregorc SLO (I just hope Devvarman sucks on grass...)
  • Prakash Amritraj IND (28) (Good grass courter, nice Newport run last year)

  • Jesse Levine USA (16) (His game isn't built for grass at all, but he's way better than the rest of this section).
My thoughts (none of which will come true...)

-I like Delic, too
-Anderson, though I'd be very unsurprised if Beck made it.
-I think Guccione will serve his way through.
-Karanusic (4)... this section is terrible.
-Machado (5) should be able to beat the Lacko/Sweeting winner. In any case, the qualifier will come out of those three.
-I like Sidorenko (30) here, too.
-I'm going with Chiudinelli here, but Bozoljac (7) could just as well come through. Somehow I doubt Donald Young will be the one.
-Hoping for Scoville Jenkins here, but am thinking that Tomic might find a way through (if he gets by Bogomolov, that is...)
-Definitely one of the two seeds will get through here. I seem to recall Udomchoke (9) having a good grass game, so I guess I favor him slightly over Rosol (22).
-Brands (10). Sorry, Dominik.
-I'm think the Dent/O. Rochus (17) winner comes out the victor in this section. Leaning toward Dent.
-Go Izak van der Merwe! (I'd also like him to, at some point, play doubles with Jesse Huta Galung. Great great names.)
-Patience (26) should get through.
-Don't know much about Gregorc, sorry, so leaning toward Lisnard.
-Kubot (15) of Kubot-Marach
-Levine (16) might have trouble against Groth, but as long as he gets through that match, I like him for the spot.

I like this game better than studying.

I had it all done up and then my computer did a weird thing and deleted the draft post, so I'm going to stick with just one name per section and no comments on this try

ATP Qualifying Draw - Singles

Sergiy Stakhovsky UKR (1)
Kevin Anderson RSA
Chris Guccione AUS (20)
Roko Karanusic CRO (4)
Ryan Sweeting USA
Alexander Peya AUT
Ilia Bozoljac SRB (7)
Scoville Jenkins USA
Lukas Rosol CZE (22)
Daniel Brands GER (10)
Olivier Rochus BEL (17)
Alexandre Kudryavtsev RUS
Olivier Patience FRA (26)
Luka Gregorc SLO
Lukasz Kubot POL (15)
Samuel Groth AUS

Kubot has the softest draw ever, which I'm quite happy about

Naturally, blondie loses to Go Soeda 11-9 in the third

I'm down 3 already as Levine beat Samuel Groth and Bubka Jr beat Rosol.

Goodness.

I lost Anderson already, to stupid Simon Greul, Guccione to Harel Levy, Sidorenko to a Brit I've never heard of and never will again, van der Merwe, to whatever caused him to retire, Patience to Bohli, and Kubot to Go!

Six down, ten to go. Since after the first day, I already lost 37.5 percent of my original stock, it's safe to say that zero of those I chose will make the main draw

I've got 10 minutes to kill, so why not?

...

Shenay Perry USA -- Bring it home, Shenay.

Mervana Jugic-Salkic BIH -- Klara's got nothing to hurt anyone.

Kathrin Woerle GER

Polona Hercog SLO (17) -- Go Polona!

Carly Gullickson USA (18) -- That is, as long as Greta Arn didn't find her way out of IW *snickers*

Sesil Karatantcheva KAZ -- Blech. Prove me wrong, Angela Haynes, PLEASE. And has Karatantcheva always played for Kazakhstan? Thought it used to be Bulgaria, but I'm probably wrong slash missed the story.

Olivia Rogowska AUS -- Won a match at RG, I believe, and almost upset a seed in the first round of the AO.

Going with Petkovic but Knapp and Oudin are both in this section, too. Ouch.

Hsieh -- Asians love the grass. Honorable mention in this section to Zuzana, who qualified here last year (I think) and got killed by Vaidisova.

Irina Begu ROU -- Romania's awesome.

Julie Ditty USA (11) -- Why not?

Ksenia Palkina KGZ -- Alright Kyrgyzstan!

Yeah, I had had all those except Sidorenko (I think) and van der Merwe, and Scoville Jenkiins got bageled by my original choice Roger's petroleum jelly.

I'm not attempting the women

Yes, she was Bulgarian, but she became Kazakh some months ago and entered into an agreement with the Kazakh federation under which they pay her a fixed amount each year for three years or so. i forgot how much it is, but I remember thinking that it was not much. However, after her results so far this year, she may be getting a good deal, because her prize money must be minuscule...

P.S. What is the shortcut for striking through some text -as opposed to deleting-? For example, if I was going to say that the Kazakhs bought Sesil and then decided not to use that verb?

Enter [ s ] to start striking out text. It ends with [ /s ] (Remove the spaces after [ and before ]). There may be other ways, but this works for me.

For some reason, I kind of remember it being $15,000 US a year.
