The Times's definitive list of the top Wimbledon players
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/spo...cle6424694.ece There is magic at the mention of the word Wimbledon. The grass courts, the tradition, the party in an English garden atmosphere and, most important of all, the players whose talents, variety of styles and character have helped to make the All England Championships what they have been since the late 19th century. Irresistible. Neil Harman, the Tennis Correspondent of The Times, has drawn on his long experience of great champions witnessed and an historical perspective to offer his nominations for the 20 finest Wimbledon champions, male and female, since men wore ties and starched collars and the women ankle length dresses to the days of the cut off sleeves, bulging biceps and short skirts. Inevitably you will have your own favourites, equally inevitably there will be omissions who you consider should be automatic selections. Use the form provided on each player profile page to send us your comments. Watch the slide show |

Thanks Omess. That's interesting although I find it difficult to include people that played almost a century ago.
And I strongly disagree with Roger being in front of Borg who had to beat the likes of Nastase, Connors and McEnroe (Roger had to beat a young Nadal, Roddick and Philippoussis). Also because the back to back FO/Wimby. |
