Default What's the final result you're hoping for?
Now that the end is in sight for the French Open, what is the final result you are crossing your fingers for?

WTA

1) A three setter involving ANYONE. The last 3 set slam final was Wimbledon 2006. It's been almost three full years.

2) Kuznetsova d Safina in a classic

3) Kuznetsova thrashes Cibulkova (I wouldn't want a 3 setter there, because I assume Kuznetsova's lost set would involve a painful walkabout)

4) Safina d Serena

5) Cirstea d Cibulkova (for the sheer "WTF!?" of it)

Since you asked "Hoping for" I'll go with Federer d. Gonzalez.

If Soderling keeps up his form, I can see the following scenario:

QF: Del Potro d. Robredo
QF: Monfils d. Federer (a distinct possibility that would not surprise me)

SF: Soderling d. Gonzalez
SF: Del Potro d. Monfils

F: Soderling d. Del Potro

No outcome will surprise me for the next few matches, except Robredo in the SF, but in my heart, I really want Fed to get his FO.

ATP

1) Federer d Anyone. It would complete his career slam and tie the record for most slams. I guess the final would be better if it were against Soderling because they haven't played a million times, but whatever.

2) Robredo d Soderling. Just to mess with people. There have been so many Nadal/Federer finals that it would be cool to see a couple of random guys sweating for it, and watch all the commentators try to figure out if the sky was falling.

I agree with that whole sentence.

I badly want a Serena/Safina final to give us the next installment in the #1 debate.

On the men's side.... Federer all the way. I want him to have the career Grand Slam and #14. Feels like it's now or never. I only hope that he doesn't want it as much as I want it for him.

I want Kuznetsova and Robredo to win, and there have been so many surprises in this tournament that anything is possible

Serena, so she can keep going for the Grand Slam this year. I think it's entirely possible.

I bet Nadal thought so too...

Safina in 2 close battles, against serena would be a nice bonus.
A win for Le Monfff would be exciting - don't care against who, Gonzo's looking like he wants it.

I'm still completely neutral about Del Potro, I'd like to see him make a performance that makes me pick a side - for or against.

But I'm open to most options, a Fed win would be the most boring though (especially thinking in the future).

Do you mean because he won't be chasing #14 or a career slam anymore? I wondered about that, too. Life after the career slam, after the GOAT discussion is closed. He'll still chase #15, but that's it.
