We joked in another thread about having a companion award to the Racquet Smash of the Year, this one focusing on on-court blubbering. It's become clear to me this is very necessary. Why? Because people crying is funny. I mean moving. I mean...aw hell, the 2009 nominees are:
Roger Federer, AO Jelena Dokic, AO Amelie Mauresmo, Paris Oh hey look, our first multiple nominee! Jelena Dokic, FO Feel free to add to the list. Vera Zvonareva will be off the bench soon so who knows how long this thread will get! |

We are going with....this year. Meanwhile, Dinara was biting her lip to keep from crying all through the ceremony yesterday. Do we count it? |

Did you see Sampras' hall of fame induction? Weeped like a baby, couldn't get through his speech. Made me want to slap him. Oh Dinara oh Dinara Oh Dinara! I wish I had a video of her on that stage. That look on her face when she was sitting in her chair, and then up on the stage, chewing on her hair, screwing up her face, staring into the corner really hard....man, she should have let the flow. The crowd would have cheered her on, it could have been the start of her preparation for defending her Finalist points for 2010 I'm sure theres a tear somewhere...even a single tear falling down the LOOK on that face speaks volumes...... |
