One match that devastated me when I was much younger was when Jimmy Connors lost a fifth set tiebreak to John McEnroe at the semis of the US Open. I'm definitely over it.

More recently, I was very bummed when Patrick Rafter couldn't finish off Goran Ivanisevic in the Wimbledon final.

I don't think there would be enough time to list all of the losses Venus has had that I haven't gotten over.

For Ferrero, it'd have to be the 2003 USO final. The 2002 RG final he lost hurt a lot too.

For me, even as high quality as it was, I have never rewatched the Wimbledon '05 women's final. Ever.
They played a final that year? As I remember it, they called it a perfectly good tournament after the semifinals, Lindsay had a delightful tea with the Queen, and everyone went home happy as pretty little fairies sang an enchanting lullaby. La la la la LA!!! I can't hear you...

Without a doubt, the 2004 Wimbledon Final.

Roddick's up a break in the third after he and Federer each took a set prior. Then comes the rain. 'nuff said.

Kim losing to Justine in the AO final for me. I stayed up to watch it, and my husband could hear me shouting at the TV.

Justine's loss to Bartoli still makes me queezy.
The Mauresmo one from the year before already made me sour because I thought she could have done that different.

And the Antwerp loss to Clijsters in 2003 had me devastated. Thought she could never turn that around and make the extra step to the absolute top. feel better now though.

And yes, Ferrero in the 2003 final still ****ing hurts. I remain of firm believe that Roddick's and Juanqui's careers would turn out quite different. (don't get me started on Andy's semi against Nalbandian in hindsight)

Justine losing to Bartoli, Wimbledon 2007.
Federer losing to Nadal in last year's Wimbledon final. I don't care how great the match was, I never want to see it. And I don't want to read Wertheim's book, even though I like him a lot, but reading about the match that I think of as the beginning of the end- no, thank you.

Hmm...

I remember three Davydenko losses: two to Federer (FO semis and a Masters Cup match) and the Masters Cup match against Blake where he led 6-2 4-2.

The other is the Petrova AO 3rd round against Serena where she led 6-1 5-3.

Nightmare for some of us is a happy day for others. I've been on both sides too many times to count...

This one's easy: the men's 2004 Wimbledon final.

I have no idea where the tape is and I sure ain't looking for it.

My No. 2 would be his loss to Federer in Shanghai 2006 after holding two match points.

The 2004 Women's French Open Final!!!

It was played solidly in the net....... long........ wide......... hell it probably would've gone behind her head and hit a ball kid if the rallies had lasted much longer. So Sad

Oh no, I had successfully forgotten that. That was agonizing.

And he had that volley that he could have made really difficult for Roger but he just punched it harmlessly right to where Roger could kill it. Ugh!

Steffi's loss to Lindsay in the 99 Wimbledon final that proved to be the end of her career.

And I'm with tinamarie, the Wimbledon final last year will always sting regardless of the high quality.
