Why, Vee, why?
I'm thinking of that song Scotty posted in the Losers Lounge...for the Nalby and PHM picks...

"Do you really want to hurt me?"

And Vee did. She wanted to inflicted maximum pain upon us all..........because that was damned painful!

Wishful thinking. I'd be extremely, extremely, excessively surprised (and just as happy) if she came back to defend her 07 Roland Garros win. (Can we not call Ana the defending champion? Shes playing .500 ball post-RG and hasn't gotten past 3rd round in a major.....)

Its not gonna happen though, sadly. I loved that backhand....so much. *sigh*
Justine just had knee surgery. I'm surprised that many don't believe she's coming back. Justine is the ultimate competitor that loves her sport. I personally don't believe that she is truly finished with tennis.

Henin can come back, but she'd better be prepared to eat a lot of bagels and breadsticks against the multitude of player who have passed her by if she even makes it that far in a tournament.

It'll be interesting to see if Sharapova changes her mechanics on the serve and crazy forheand to try to prevent damaging her shoulder again...if she even gets her shoulder back to 100% again.

Venus probably won't be a strong competitor anywhere except for Wimby and the Open.

Serena's destiny is in her own hands. If she ever commits 100% to fitness again, she could win at least 5 more slams.

Judging from what I have seen in the top 10. And judging from Dokic's quick successful comeback, as usual there is not much depth in women's tennis. With the exception of Serena, I think that if Justine wants to come back she will have just as a successful run as Dokic.

Hmmm...I'm not sure about that. Henin got smacked around really good in the last few months of her career by big athletic girls. Justine was able to beat them for a long time, but that time seemed to be pretty much up. I don't think she'd have a hard time making top 10. I do think she'd have a hard time getting to finals of majors other than possibly the French.

My comment was in response to the French Open. Not necessarily the other tournaments.

Don't get me wrong. I'd like to see her come back just to see that one-handed backhand, no matter the tournament.

Y'all are smokin' it if you don't think Justine would make it back to #1. The last few months were total burnout. And this is coming from someone who's happy if she stays far far away.
