Default Peer Out Four Weeks
Shahar Peer has a stress fracture in her right foot and will be out of action at least four weeks.

She has dropped out of the top fifty (although she was playing well in Estoril before withdrawing) and hasn't won a title since 2006

That's not good, stress fractures tend to return over and over. I hope she fully heals before coming back.

Without the WTA heaping a bunch of fines on her that she can't really afford.....

I find the fines to be absolutely ridiculous. I actually hope some of the players show up hit one serve and then retire from the match en masse.

LOL! Can you imagine a mass protest of this by all of the players? Where they ALL hit one ball and then retire?

THAT would get their message across!

Who wins if both players retire simultaneously? I suppose BYE is declared the winner...

But, if everyone retires in such fashion in the first round of a tournament, who gets the trophy? Does BYE get his/her name finally recognized on the roll of past champions? Will the sponsors know what to do if no one is there to shake hands with them?

One person per match bows out....so in the end....one person will get the trophy by default without playing a single match.....you better believe that winner will go down in history with an asterisk next to her name! Think of it as a chance for a player to win a wta title event where she never would have or ....ever will again

Personally, is it going to take something DRASTIC to make these people open their eyes?
