Win here in Suttgart, take a week off to recover and win in Madrid. What's wrong with that?
Get a 0 for Rome in between?

Aren't you required to play a certain number of Premier events? I think this is the second one she is skipping. I might be making it up. I haven't slept all night (since you refused to write my papers in your spare time )

For the top 10, they are required to play 4 of the 5 Premier 5 (Dubai, Rome, Toronto, Cincinnati, Tokyo). Elena played Dubai

Under the new setup, Elena has to play 4 out of the 5 Premier Five events this year. If she miss 1 out of the Premier Five events, she is requred to play at that site in 2010. The Premier 5 events are Dubai, Rome, Cincinnati, Toronto, and Tokyo. Therefore, she has to play Rome in 2010 but if she misses a 2nd one in 2009, I believe that she will have to take a 0.

Roadkill is killing me already. But, yeah, I thought she's missed one already for some reason. Thanks

Romina Oprandi lost in 1st round of qualies to clay court ace Vania King today, 4 and 1.

Remember back in 2006, when Oprandi shocked the world (well, at least the TAT world) as a nobody who got to the quarters at Rome, and I think even had a match point against Sveta, before losing in a 3rd set tiebreak? Have you even heard her name since then?

Remember someone also noted that her body type is not that of a typical tennis player. Perhaps there was something to it...

50% of the games in Bartoli/Dementieva have been breaks of service. Well done, ladies

Really? My first thought was how tricky Serena's half of the draw looked, with Schnyder, Wozniacki, Azarenka, Jankovic, Pennetta and Kuznetsova...

I like Venus' chances, Serena's definitely going to have a tougher time at it.

Honestly, I don't think she'll even have to do that well to make the finals.

I thought Vera was supposed to be out of commission for several weeks. Is there an update?
