I think Zvonareva's groundstrokes are some of the cleanest in the game. First time I ever saw her play was years ago in a final against Lindsey on the green clay and between them the unforced error count was very low - one of the cleanest, pure-hitting finals I ever watched.

I'm not big on 2-handed backhands, but on the men's side, I think Nalbandian's is one of the best around.

did anyone mention David Nalbandian already? I think his shots are a marvelous mix of control, elegance and efficiency. Perfect technique and deadly accuracy.

I should have added earlier, while not necessarily "current," cleanest strokes: DAVENPORT! The sound of the ball coming off her racquet was heavenly. And the helicopter forehand!
Well hello.

I still say Amelie's is the most beautiful, but Lindsay's is the most thrilling. And if we're adding clips as evidence...

Davenport Unleashed

And this one just cuz it made me laugh.

Mario Ancic's serve. Mark Knowles at net.

Wait, those aren't groundstrokes.
I was waiting for someone to include serves here to say .....

The single shot I remember more than any other from Lindsay's career was that forehand she hit just before 1:30 in this video. I remember watching that point and thinking she had lost it several times, before she unloaded on that winner. Her shots, the forehand especially, were deadly in this match.

Have to agree. She's a beautiful volleyer, but I always found the rest of her game so loopy and, well, weak. And I hate the way she jumps into her forehand.

I should have added earlier, while not necessarily "current," cleanest strokes: DAVENPORT! The sound of the ball coming off her racquet was heavenly. And the helicopter forehand!
There still is no one that compares on the tour with her level of groundstrokes. I can still recognize her ballstriking without seeing the tv screen. Lindsay's strokes were just so natural, second nature. (And now I'm getting all weepy...I miss her!)

I do enjoy CSN and Amelie's backhands when they come over the ball. I also love Vaidisova's and Azarenka's forehands when they're in their zones.

And Gasquet's backhand is a slice of heaven.

Gasquet's backhand is just gorgeous. I think the agony surrounding his matches is worth it just to see him hit that backhand.

I also appreciate the quiet efficiency of Roger's serve.
