How many of these up-and-coming youngsters is she going to stop dead in their tracks? |

After her 2005 comeback, which of course wasn't nearly as long as this layoff and didn't involve nearly getting ripped in half as the result of childbirth, I put nothing past her. Especially in light of what a mess the WTA is right now.
The only really big difference between then and now is that Serena is no longer on a professional walkabout. Other than that, I see no major barriers. And Justine's not in the picture, either. I think the prognosis is good. |

I don't think the top 10 is out of her reach given its current state. Didn't Hingis manage a return to the top ten? If Kim is determined to make a comeback, she can most certainly equal that effort, and, I expect, surpass it. How many of these up-and-coming youngsters is she going to stop dead in their tracks? |

I think Kimmie will go as far as Kimmie wants to.
I don't think it is fair to compare Kimmie with Lindsay except in the most general terms. Kim was always a bigger mover and more gutsy player than Lindsay was. After two babies...I don't think she has lost any of her drive to play tennis and seeing Linds come back.....has probably given her much more motivation than she already had to begin with. I agree with the other posters that much of it depends on how much Kim's body holds up. I don't think a woman's body goes to rot after two babies especially given at the young age Kimmie had hers at. I think if a woman takes care of her body....trust me, pregnancy and breastfeeding can enhance a whole lot because of the hormones. So if you care for yourself.....and I don't doubt that Kimmie has....you can basically do whatever you want. And youngsters on the tour....haha don't make me laugh. A lot of them still haven't refined their games yet. They lack the maturity needed on the courts to sustain... A lot of them still choke in major, critical moments. None of them have the expertise of a slam finalist like Kimmie does and considering the state of the WTA .......Kimmie shouldn't have a problem reaching the top ten. She can stay there for a very long time. And everyone tries....but no one does a split like Kimmie. I personally can't wait to see her back in action! I think there may be a slam or two in Kimmie's future IF she really wants it. |

One of the questions that will take a while to answer (unless she addresses it earlier, since there wouldn't be a clay event for about 9 months from her start date) is what she's going to do come Clay season. While she seems a natural physically on the surface, and has a couple of RG finals to her credit, she had planned not to play the French in '07, because of the wear and tear on her reconstructed wrist. If she opts out of the clay season (all or a big part of it), that will impact her chances at the highest reaches of the rankings.

I think she can definitely be Top 10 again and wouldn't put a couple GS finals and possibly a GS title out of reach. She was 1 point away from being Aussie Open quarterfinalist! |

On a random note, I was searching for some of Kim's matches on youtube yesterday, when I came upon an exhibition match between her and Lleyton in 2004, when they were still engaged. Never knew this took place! |
