How badly must you be serving to lose 2&1 to John Isner?

Hmm ... I saw Bopanna play dubs with Nieminen in San Jose, and his serve was a big weapon (often around 140 mph). So I suppose he could have been missing those. But his mobility looked particuarly poor. I'm guessing that's particularly easy to exploit in singles.

Don't watch them play as a team... Its not a pleasant sight.

Look... A chance for Gulbis to make it past the second round... At least more of one than previous tournaments.

Who is Greg Hill?
Exactly what I said when I saw the doubles draw...

This tourney is an opportune moment for Ernests Gulbis to capture his lst title. However, his first round opponent is Marcos. Never seen such a young player draw so many highly ranked opponents in the lst/2nd rounds. He practically never gets a sure-fire dismissal in the early rounds.

I always get a kick out of stories like this one.

Two-time former champion Xavier Malisse is aggrieved about not getting a wildcard into Delray Beach. "I think it's pretty embarrassing to be in five finals in eight years, winning twice and not get a wild card," said Malisse after losing 7-5, 6-3 to Taylor Dent in qualifying. "There's no loyalty in tennis."

Lleyton Hewitt and Sam Querrey received the tournament's two open wildcards, with the third going to the winner of the USTA boys' claycourt championships, Evan King.

"I truly adore Malisse, but I didn't know if he was healthy," tournament director Mark Baron told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. "Hewitt's a better draw... I told Malisse that I was leaning toward Querrey because he's an American."

Golly, what a shame they didn't let him lose in the first round instead of in qualifying.
