Okay, I'll admit to being lily-livered. After staying up all night, I took one look at Roger walking off the court and knew I couldn't handle watching him go through the trophy presentation. Turned off the set and went to bed. |

I don't know....I mean, not to diminish the feat of defeating Rafa, but the strategy to beat him doesn't seem to be rocket science...between the 09 semi with Verdasco and the 08 semi against Tsonga, the general strategy (at least on hard courts) should just be to 1. jump like hell on that second serve every time you see it, and 2. hit through the ball cleanly with pace like Tsonga does. Murray did that very well against him at the US Open last year. Verdasco can go forehand to forehand, so it is a different geometry in the court. I can't find how to quote a second message, but Kirkus posts that he hopes those ridiculous comparisons with Tiger Woods will now cease. I agree. Federer plays a sport, not a game. Tiger Woods has no right to be compared to Roger. |

The key difference is that all those other players have two handed backhands that can deal better with Rafa's forehand topspin crosscourt. |

Nope. Tiger's also had his struggles, and periods (1998, 2003-2004) where he didn't win any majors in a given year- while Rog has won a major every year since 2003. And there ain't any Rafa-level golfer on HIS tour. Beside that comment, I'm keeping mum on the whole thing because I didn't see it with my own eyes. I'm hoping to catch it on replay tonight. |

Maybe now these ridiculous comparisons to Tiger Woods will cease. Tiger is chasing the all time record for slams as is Roger. In Tiger's case, he has more than 20 years to do it. Rog's shelf life is more like 6 or 7. Roger will be long retired when Tiger is still sort of in his prime. Tiger is currently at the point in his career where Roger was in 2005. With all that said, Roger will be in the conversation for GOAT but Tiger will obliterate all doubt in the Golf GOAT conversation. We have seen the likes of Federer before. We have never seen the likes of Woods. He has the equivalent of Fed's talent and Nadal's will. |
