Default Radwanska Father: No More Dubai
Another tennis parent demanding the spotlight.

Agnieszka and Urszula's father Robert, in a translation from a Polish paper, says his daughters will not play Dubai next year. He says that while they did not agree with the situation with Shahar, it's not about her:

"It's not politics. We will not play where we don't want to."

"For the organizers of this tournament, if your name isn't Williams or Sharapova, you are nothing."

I believe the second quote may actually be from their manager.

Original (Polish):

Maybe if his daughters won like a Williams or Sharapova the organizers would be falling all over themselves to make sure they're in a tournament. Mr Radwanska should wait until his daughters have established themselves as winners on the tour before making demands.

The article also talks about some visa issues he had when trying to enter the country. Seems like this is some residual bitterness over that incident.

Again, from their manager:

"I tried to intervene earlier with the tournament director. I sent 3 emails and called for a few days, but nothing. I once received a woman, but she only spoke Arabic. That is the organization of a tournament with a prize pool of $2 million - ironically."

Also, apparently Agnieszka wanted a later start, given her trip from Paris and the fact that she wasn't feeling well. She obviously didn't get it.

Next year, she won't be ranked high enough to play at Dubai anyway, so she can go back to Pattaya City.

I need to get me some kids and become a tennis parent. It would give me the perfect outlet for releasing my hidden insanity.

But I guess I'll say it again... Let the players compete where they want.

She said as much late last year when she blasted the wta over Roadmap. She didn't want to be top 10 if it limited where she could play. She's following through on it.

Maybe some of her father's anger is related to the whole tour structure. Of course, that's probably more my hope than reality.

What makes him nuts? That he's speaking out against the tour/a tour stop? Isn't that what we've been clamoring for people to do? Or am I missing a stint in the psycho ward which is possible too.

I, for one, am always happy these days when anyone criticizes the wta tour.

Amen.
Roadkill Sucks. Dubai Sucks (I've never been fond of this overpriced, overfalse event). Larry Scott Sucks. If anything Papa Radwanska is preaching the choir, but it won't change anything.

According to Roadkill, Aggie won't be required to play Dubai in 2010 since she played this year but what happens if she is in the Top 10 in 2011?

I can't keep up with all of the Roadkill specifics.

Kow tow to the man, you rabblerouser!

I don't think he sounds nuts, per se, just that he has a little bit of an over-inflated sense of the impact his daughter has made on the tour.

And the manager's comment about him "once receiving a woman" is kinda funny.
