Default DAVYDENKO OUT OF AUSTRALIAN OPEN
Nikolay Davydenko is out of AO because of a heel injury sustained at the Chennai Open.

http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/breves2...o-forfait.html

Wow!! Too bad for him, I hope it not career threatening.

So many of us had him going far in Chennai. So much for predictions.

For some reason, livescore has him winning 6-1 over Dlouhy in Chennai

Some people are going to be more upset about this than others...

I just hope that he is able to rebound well, as he has typically does well at this slam in past years.

No kidding. I just had him in the semis so it probably helps me.

Oh god! Ticket sales are gonna PLUMMET!

Seriously, though, he's a harmless lil' goblin. Here's hoping he recovers in time for IW.

This sucks. I love his game and still have hope that he can make a GS final. The emergence of Murray had already lessened the chances. Now, I just hope he can get his career back on track.

Kolya!!!

Maybe this will be good for him mentally. Let him take a little break. Hopefully he is good soon.

It's a week-and-a-half out from Melbourne. This must be one helluva heel injury for him to know at this point he can't play. That really sucks.

Sucks that he's hurt...

but let's be honest; it just makes for one less "weak" section of the draw.

These are the likely top 8 seeds for the AO now that Davydenko is out. Could we ask for better quarter-finalists than this?

Updated ATP Draw
1 Nadal, Rafael ESP 1
2 Federer, Roger SUI 2
3 Djokovic, Novak SRB 3
4 Murray, Andy GBR 4
OUT Davydenko, Nikolay RUS 5
6 Tsonga, Jo-Wilfried FRA 6
7 Simon, Gilles FRA 7
8 Roddick, Andy USA 8
9 Del Potro, Juan Martin ARG 9

I said this in chat the other night, Davydenko has taken so much from tennis but given back so little to the it. He is the rare elite athlete who actually makes a sport more compelling by his absense.
