Pierce Not Ready to Retire
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: December 26, 2008 The two-time Grand Slam champion Mary Pierce is not ready to hang up her racket just yet. Despite being sidelined by a knee injury since 2006, Pierce told the sports daily L’Équipe that she would like to play again at the French Open. “I care about Roland Garros,” she said. “If I could stand in center court for one match, that would already be a big victory.” Pierce, who turns 34 next month, won the French Open in 2000 and the Australian Open in 1995. She ruptured a ligament in her left knee in October 2006 in Linz, Austria, in a match against Vera Zvonareva. She has not competed professionally since. “I don’t feel it’s the right moment” to announce her retirement, she told L’Équipe, adding that her left leg was weak but that tests indicated her knee had recovered. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/26/sp...OTREA_BRF.html |

Actually, Jill not THAT alturistic. She's just hoping there will be another lady in the locker room that would have a spare pair of Depends in a pinch. Rumour was that at Indian Wells, she had to turn to Tina Bammer-Gschwendtner for help. WELL, just wait until Greta Arn toddles into her next qualifying locker room and mistakes the Depends of one of the WTA Biddies for a colorful bandana. "And DEAR GOD, Greta, that ain't the map of Hungary on your bandana, either!!!!!" |
