Oh, P.S.... I voted for Venus just because I'm biased.

I think chances of Maria prolonging her uninterrupted stay in the top 10 (longest on tour at the moment) are miniscule. Anything other than a title (or a RU in favorable circumstances) in her first tournament back would take her out. But it's also obvious that she belongs there and will be back in no time as long as her shoulder cooperates...

Already forgot her Rome title?

Jelena has virtually identical amount of points in the first and second halfs of the season.
Did not forget it at all. I know she beat Venus (surprise surprise especially on clay) and got the w/o from Maria. Still facing Alize for the title was no big task.

Write-in vote for Justine.

No, I had to narrowly give the nod to Serena over Jelena. Deep down, I know Jelena had the better year, but I just can't look past no GS titles.

Had Jelena won the US Open final...this may not even be a discussion.

But she didn't!

In terms of personal best, I'd say Safina or Zvonareva.
Ditto. I only wish they would be able to replicate that next year.

As far as who actually had the best year, I go with Venus. She won a slam and 5th biggest event. She is trying to be more and more consistent. Kudos to her.

Similar to how the year actually went...so far Jankovic is number one, but the strongest arguments seem to be from other people's supporters

And even though it seems like she's been around longer than God, she has a lot of years left.
