It should be a requirement that you win at least one tournament in a year to be a part of this lineup.

She's playing by the rules. She played enough to get enough points. It's up to the WTA to change the rules no?

It's the rules, and she's in legit under the rules. Doesn't mean I have to like the rules. If I liked the rules, right now I wouldn't have a Bud Selig voodoo doll sitting on my desk with a 6 inch hairpin stuck in his you-know-what.

I'd otherwise like it to be a requirement that, if you KNOW you're gonna lose anyway, to please lose all of your round robin matches so that there's no chance for you to stink up the final.

Switching player focuses, I'd also like to make it a requirement that you're not allowed to cry during and/or after your inevitable loss(es).

If we're talking about who I think we're talking about, she was kind enough to do that last year.

This player has made far, FAR too many finals. Thus, the required rule change.

Just noticed this...is this the same Karim Alami? He was Moroccan, though, which makes me wonder if it is the same guy.

There will be two alternates at the Sony Ericsson WTA Championships in Doha next week, Aggie Radwanska and Flavia Pennetta. The injured woman who is ninth in the race, Maria Sharapova, will not go to do promotional activities, and since she cannot play anyway if someone got hurt, there was really no reason to ask her. It still is a sport, no, where alternates need to be able to alternate on court?

Not in the race, but she could still catch Flavia this week. Nadia must have decided not to go. Probably the right decision - highly unlikely that she would get to play...

Thanks. Seems to be the points she gains this week would put her over the top, but Flavia would need some notice to hire a dog sitter...

They probably have to be there at a certain time for publicity reasons I would think. And with Nadia likely committed to Canada til Nov. 2, that might be a factor. I'm trying to remember what happened wth Kim in 2005. She showed up at the last minute (we found out later that it was the same time her parents told her they were divorcing), but she was locked in the main section, and I think she got there a day or two before play.
