I would have chosen Mary Pierce if she had been an option. I bet she comes back at the US Open, plays some indoor events, her body doesn't keep up, and she goes bye-bye.

I voted for Lindsay because it seems she is playing it by ear as is.

Next choice would be Amelie, but I think if she were going to retire this year, it would have happened already, maybe.

Then Ferrero and Hewitt simply because they're barely standing, but I think Ferrero's not going to forgive himself for going 5 years without winning a tournament, and Hewitt still wants to fight. So, I see them retiring only if an injury takes them out for many months.
When was Mary Pierce #1?

Perhaps ponchi recognized the fact that the very thought of Serena retiring is enough to cause munchin a panic attack and contemplation of suicide and just wanted to save me all of that hassle.
I left Serena out because although I am a detractor, I do believe she is still hungry. Two hot weeks within the next month are not unthinkable at all.
And I believe she still has at least two more Slams in her (which I will suffer as much as Munchin will enjoy)

I voted for Hewitt, and now I'm going to use The Secret to make it happen.

I was thinking top players not #1. It's in the thread title isn't it.

Looks like Amelie is going whether she wants to or not.

Is Venus really going to marry that golfer? What was the matter with that Italian guy?

You mean Bolelli? I hear he's more interested in guys who constantly change their names

I think Marat will retire first.
Dinara said that he talks about retiring.
Mauresmo would be my other choice.
She just doesn't have the fight in her anymore.
