The Marquee match for Thursday, featuring one past winner, and last years semifinalist.
Andy wants this title, and if the match against Gonzo was any indication, he is playing his way closer and closer to the title. Since a little bit of a scare against Gulbis, Andy has looked as good as any man on the courts, and has earned serious consideration to still be around come Sunday. Nole? How's his health. If he has recovered from what looked like some health issues on Tuesday versus Robredo (Tommy might disagree), he still is likely to be fatigued after a number of tough matches back to back. Still, this is the man who won the other hard court Slam, won Indian Wells, and wants another shot at this title after last year's final. Career H2H - 1-1, both on hardcourts. Novak won in Canada last year, Andy in Dubai this year. |

I figured Novak was cooked after the Robredo match...until I saw that "heart...legs...head" gesture directed to his mom, which I thought was a near perfect statement at the exact moment it needed to be made. And when I saw that, I was convinced that he is going to find a way to win this whole thing.
So I went Novak in 4. |

Novak in four.
His ego is bigger than Andy's! Andy is playing great tennis right now...but he hasn't faced a player of Novak's quality yet....and so far....his hardcourt season hasn't yielded results that I would have thought Andy would have gotten easily with flying colors. Andy will start off well.....Novak will recover (from whatever with the help of numerous trainer calls) and then....watch for the classic Andy temper / mouthiness and.....finally the classic Andy choke that Novak will capitalize upon whereupon.... He will do that animalistic heart pounding gesture at his mother that they both love! |

I don't think he will win the US Open this year....but...I don't think Andy has the patience or the heart to beat Novak. If he plays like he did against Fernando...I believe he can challenge Novak and even take a set off of him...but I don't think Andy can beat him. I'd love to see it tho! |

Moose, how could you forget Novak was in the FINAL last year?
I would have easily said Nole, even with the 50000 million medical timeouts, but I have an eery feeling and also have believed since after Wimbledon that Nole's too nervous to win anything. And Roddick is playing well. It'll be 4 sets and I'll narrowly choose Roddick |

This is a tough one for me. Despite whatever was ailing him yesterday, Nole toughed it out in 5 sets...to me that took a lot of heart. (Kinda felt bad for Tommy but was very impressed with his heart too.)
Andy's been playing well but Novak could make it tough...think I'm leaning towards Novak at the moment. |

roddick probably just added some fuel to thefire after making some of these quotes after his win in the last round.
http://www.usopen.org/en_US/news/int...331396984.html And I would side with Roddick on this one. Personally i don't like Djokovic and I hope Roddick smokes him tomorrow. But despite this my mind just tells me that Novak is the better player but Andy's playing so well I'll take Djokovic in 5. |
