The Sisters scheduled for battle on the biggest stage in the world tomorrow night. Can't imagine that it gets any bigger than this for NY, for the organizers, and for these ladies. Just one of many stats about these two versus the rest of the draw - Serena - 8 Slams, Venus - 7 Slams...the other 126 in this year's USO draw - 7 Slams.
Both come into this match having been barely challenged through their first four rounds of matches. Serena, in fact, has only been broken once for the tournament. Both are healthy, both are playing well. And both clearly want another Slam. Carrer H2H is 8-7 Venus (The WTA site has it 8-8, but that includes the Indian Wells walkover, which isn't usually counted in a H2H score). USO H2H is 2-1 Venus, with Serena's only win against Venus coming as part of the Serena Slam. |

I think Venus's win at Wimbledon makes this less "life and death" for her. Serena, on the other hand, is probably hungrier for this title than any other person in the draw. And that includes Elena and Jelena, both of whom I think want this horribly, and yet still not as badly as the Fierce Stomping Diva.
I think Serena in 2. |

Most will probably pick Serena, but I think Venus has been in better form. I REALLY REALLY REALLY want Venus to win. She NEEDS to win another grand slam other than Wimbledon, but I think Serena is just more hungry for a grand slam win. And like Moose, I think that will be the difference. It won't be life or death for Venus. I think Venus's win at Wimbledon makes this less "life and death" for her. I"m going with Serena in three.
And three because right now....Venus is playing the tennis of her life! But.... Serena in three because.....that girl wants revenge for Wimby...no doubt about it...no way around it...Serena's deepest desire is to be THE champion and....she needs to get past Venus for that so... Serena needs to beat Venus for revenge in Wimby To make it to the semis so she can win the Tournament and in doing that... Reaches the number one ranking again..... But.....I so LOVE Venus! |

I think it's going to be Serena in 3 too...
I just wonder what will happen if Venus does win, how will she bring it against Safina and Elena. Safina is definitely going to be tough, probably moreso than Elena. Serena has lost to all 3 this year and I think will use the carrot of another GS title and the #1 ranking to get revenge on Venus, Dinara & Elena |
