Default Mardy talks Olympics, US Open
Excerpt from article:

Another reason he didn't join his buddies on that SFO-to-Beijing
flight is likely because those coulda-woulda-shoulda memories from
his loss to Massu in Athens are still a bit too fresh; too painful to
confront, to relive. It could have been the highpoint of his career.

Instead, it was, and will always be, The One That Got Away.
"Getting the silver was really tough," explained Fish,
who earlier
this year announced his engagement to Stacey Gardner, a
briefcase-holding model on the NBC hit game show Deal or No Deal.

"It was maybe five, ten minutes after I had lost the match that we
were on the medal stand. Being up two sets to one - when I think
about that, it brings back some tough memories. It took me a while
to get over that loss."

That's if he's gotten over it at all.

I don't know if I ever got Fish. Always saw brief flashes of brilliance, then letdown after letdown. He's somebody that in retrospect, I wish I would have cared more about than I do.

Agree or disagree: This generation of American men may go down as one of the greatest classes of underachievers of all time.

They're going to have a whole lot of competition from the Argentines and the French.

I would want to know how much growing up with Roddick, in Roddick's shadow, affected Mardy.

In American tennis history, Agree.

Even though Roger and now Rafael is playing wonderful, some of the American men results had been mind boggling at times with Blake, other than the USO, can not get to the 4th round in any Slam and Roddick not adjusting to guys who played their career match against him. No comments on the other USA men.

Perspective is SUCH an interesting thing. I've said it before- and I'll say it again- I think Mardy's getting a silver is an amazing accomplishment. I've always been very impressed with this result. Ya think Taylor Dent would trade places?!?!? How truly sad that apparently this is instead a bit of a nightmare for him.
